Services will be held for Elliott Mathew Schimpf, 33, on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at Cypress Baptist Church, Benton, LA, with Rev. John Fream officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday evening between the hours of 6 – 8 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA.

Elliott was born on September 19, 1977, in Metairie, LA to parents Carl and Monette Schimpf. He left this life abruptly following a fatal car accident on the evening of July 23, 2011. Elliott was employed with Hand Construction and often used his carpentry skills to help those of us who were not as talented. He was a hard working young man who could never say “no” to anyone needing help with a home project. In addition to knowing how to “swing a hammer”, he loved to deer hunt and was an avid outdoorsman. Elliott was a loving husband and devoted daddy. Collectively he was our son, brother, grandson, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and cousin. Elliott will leave an empty place in our hearts that can’t be filled. He will be deeply missed!

Elliott was preceded in death by his father, Carl Michael Schimpf; grandfathers, Elliott Desselle and Tillmon Schimpf; and aunt, Catherine Pearson. He leaves behind his wife of ten years, Shanon Woods Schimpf; children, Gracie and Matthew Schimpf; mother, Monette Schimpf Barattini; sister, Erica Schimpf; step-father, Louis Barattini; grandmothers, Catherine Schimpf and Marlene Desselle; mother-in-law, Kathy Wilemon and husband, Dwain; father-in-law, Randy Woods and wife, Geralyn; sister-in-law, Melissa Woods Calvin and husband, Leon; step-brothers-in-law, Jason Keith and wife, Tasha and Josh Keith; step-sister-in-law, Nicole Coburn and husband, Randy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Pallbearers are Leon Calvin, Jeffrey Bordelon, Jeremy Pearson, Troy Pearson, Josh Keith, Jason Keith, Bryan Weiter and Vincent Avocato.
