Elvis Gilman Tipton "Poppa E"

Elm Grove, LA – Memorial services will be conducted at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Hwy 80 East, Bossier City-Haughton for Mr. Elvis Gilman Tipton, 66, of Elm Grove, LA on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Charles Tipton. Interment will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Hill Crest Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 3-6 p.m.

Elvis was born on November 13, 1944, to Elmer and Joyce Tipton of Ringgold, LA and passed away on October 8, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army, attended Northwestern State University, and retired from Lucent Technologies as a tool and die maker

Elvis loved being outdoors, fishing, gardening, and working with his tractors. He was always helping his family, friends and neighbors and spoiling his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Tipton, and his wife, Sandra Marie Tipton. He leaves behind his mother, Joyce Tipton of Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law Ken and Andrea Johnson; three grandchildren Brenna, Zane and Devon; sister Joy and husband Herb Sams of Ringgold; two nephews, Lewis and Brad Sams; and many more family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Boniol, Kate Young, Nurse Practitioner, the staff at Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center and Hospital, and the caring staff and volunteers at The Grace Home.
