

Essie Lee Carraway Chapman entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the age of 88. She was a long time resident of Princeton, Louisiana. Essie was a retired teacher from Caddo Career Center in the field of Health Occupations and a retired nurse. She was also a long-standing member of the Haughton United Methodist Church and member of the ACTION Food Pantry in Haughton, Louisiana.
She is survived by her loving husband Marcus Reno Chapman Jr. and Her children Deborah Cross-Young and husband George Young and Marcus Chapman III and wife Amy Andrus Chapman. Her three grandchildren Warren Ray Cross Jr. and wife Theresa, Marcus Reno Chapman IV and wife Desiree, and Melissa Louise Chapman Matthews and husband Anthony. Three sisters, Gladys Stephens, Doris Turnosky, Ann Hingst and one brother Charley Carraway, survive her. She had four bothers that preceded her in death Bill Carraway, Johnny Carraway, Durwood Carraway and Clinton Carraway along with her parents Jesse and Mamie Carraway. She has seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that also survive her.
Lastly she is survived by many children that are now adults that she help mentor through the 4-H program at Haughton High while her children attended there and the many teens that are now in the health occupations field as dental assistances, nurses, and nurse’s aides.
Service and visitation will be at Hill Crest Funeral Home 601 US-80, Haughton, LA 71037. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Monday, September 28, 2015 and Funeral will be Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 3 pm. officiated by Pastor Ken Norton.
