He was born in Marianna, AR on February 23, 1936 to James and Gladys Devers. George joined the US Air Force after High School and served his country for 28 years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Devers; sons, Bryant Devers and Richie Reese; parents; and brothers, Jim Devers, Herman Devers and Russell Devers.
Nookie was survived by his sons, Greg Devers and wife Paula K., and Randy Devers and wife Lisa Kaye; daughter, Rita Day; grandchildren, Wesley Devers (Josie), Gregory Devers (Teresa), Jared Devers (Jena), Colton Devers, Haley Hoffman (John), Randy Fox, Marilyn Gentry, Michelle Luquet (Jeff), Billie Jo Reese, Amy Reese, Shauna Devers, Reese Devers; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Becky Stokes, Dorothy Pruett and Betty Turner and brother, John Devers; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 pm with Dr. Randy Harper officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at HIll Crest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Colton Devers, Gregory Devers, Wesley Devers, Jared Devers, Tucker Devers and Freddy Gates.
