Gertrud was born in Kreuzberg, Germany and her formative years were dominated by surviving World War II. After the war, Gertrud was a nanny for the family of a Nurnburg Trials attorney. It was at that time she met the love of her life, Airman Francis M. Robb, her beloved Milt.
Gertrud was a wonderful wife and mother and traveled the United States and Europe, supporting her Air Force husband, Chief Master Sergeant Milt Robb. Gert raised two sons and worked at the military youth center and the base exchange. While living in Bossier City, she was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Shreveport.
Gertrud was proud of her German heritage, but she was most proud of becoming a citizen of the United States of America in 1956, 70 years ago and having been a military spouse.
Her loving Milt preceded her in death in 2008 after 57 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Marie Lindhof and her brother, Paul.
Gertrud or Oma, as she was known to her family, is survived by her two sons; Bill of Niceville, Florida and Rick and his wife Mary of Fort Worth, Texas. Oma is also survived by her four grandchildren; Matt, Lexie, Tyler, and Christine and two great grands; Caroline and Hadley.
A visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on April 18, 2026 at 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with an interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family requests any memorials be made to The Special Operations Warrior Foundation at specialops.org.
