Harold “Buster” Detty was born and grew up in Dayton, OH. After finishing high school, he followed his father and joined the US Air Force where he served at Barksdale AFB and then in Vietnam and Thailand. While at Barksdale, he met and married Deborah Ann Loe, before his tour in Vietnam. Following his release from active duty, he joined the fire department at Barksdale AFB as a Federal Civil Servant where he retired after a 35 1/2 year career. In retirement, he filled his life with his passions: people, collecting, and fixing things. He collected guns, rocks and gems, antiques, oddities, and countless friends. He was an amazing personality and giving person. He always helped others and would do without himself to help anyone in need, whether it be a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need.
He was predeceased by his wife Deborah Ann Loe Detty, his mother Patrica J. Karnes Detty, and father Harold Leslie Detty Sr.
He is survived by his son John Paul Detty and the untold lives he helped and touched.
Services in his honor will take place Thursday, March 23, 2023 hosted at the V.F.W. Hall, 1315 Northgate Rd., Bossier City, LA: Visitation 6 pm; Memorial Service 7 pm.
