Steve was born on July 21, 1945 in Magnolia, AR to Henry and Vernelle (Beasley) Fomby. He was in Law Enforcement in different areas as well as serving in the National Guard. He received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a conservation enforcement agent for the LA Dept. of Conservation and a past member of the Webster Parish School Board.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Linda Fomby; daughter, Stephanie Cockrell; son, Craig Fomby; grandchildren, Kylie Fomby, Natalie Barlow, McKenzie Osburn, Caden Cockrell and Emma Fomby and great grandson, Brady Demers; and sister, Sandra Dance.
