Janis was an administrative assistant, starting her career with United Gas Pipeline Company, and eventually retired from one of the subsequent companies that United Gas eventually became. She moved successfully through the ranks, earning many accolades and awards. She lived the majority of her adult life in the Houston, Texas area. She was a member of Life Tabernacle church in Houston, Texas.
In 2019, she relocated to Bossier Parish, Louisiana, and became a member of the Pentecostals of Bossier City (POBC).
Janis was an accomplished seamstress with many other gifts and talents. She was a musician and vocalist in her younger years. She did beautiful embroidery and other handwork that was impeccable. She made beautiful porcelain dolls. One of the legacies that she left her family was beautiful handmade Christmas stockings with amazing sequin detail. She made each niece, nephew, spouse, and even their children, for many years, upwards of over 50 stockings.
Janis was an intelligent, classy lady with a very quiet, sweet spirit. She was a giver of herself, her time, and her heart. She loved her Lord, and until the last year, was very faithful in attending church, which was extremely important to her.
Janis had a unique sense of humor and a sharp wit, which made her so much fun to be around. She made each person feel very special. Until about the age of 89, she was still texting and banking online, making efforts to be progressive and relevant in an ever-changing technological society.
She is now healed and whole.
Her nephews, Riley Bornaman, Harmon Carson, Kip Carson, Victor Carson, Kenny Davis, Craig Grimsley, and David McGee, will serve as pallbearers, per her request. Her nephew, Cliff Grimsley will serve as honorary pallbearer.
