

W.MONROE LA-Services for Jean Marie Witchella Croom, 90, will be Wednesday August 8, 2012 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with the Reverends Lynn Malone and Cheryl Nelson officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Hill Crest Memorila Park. The family will be receiving visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born August 23, 1921, and was a loyal member of Benton United Methodist Church in Benton, La for over 65 years. She was a legal secretary for Ford Stinson, Sr. and Jr. For almost 30 years. She was an avid reader and a fan of history especially the presidents and an expert seamstress. She died peacefully with her family around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Amy Witchella, her husband of 52 years, C. Stuart Croom, Jr. and grandson Bryan Stuart Gates.
She is survived by her son Calvin S. Croom, III and wife Tina; daughter Mary Jean Goodwin and husband Alvin and daughter Elizabeth Gates; seven granddaughters Teresa Hays and husband Mark, Amy Anderson and husband Todd, Veronica Mitchell and husband Troy, Leigh Anne Hunter and husband Luther, Catherine Compton and husband Clay, Susan Moseley and husband Brian, Erin Gates and 12 great-grand-children.
Pallbearers will be Judge Ford Stinson, Todd Anderson, Brian Mosley, Daniel Bufkin, Luther Hunter, Clay Compton.
The family would like to thank Ridgecrest Nursing home and Hospice Compassus for taking such good care of our mother during her illness.
