

BENTON, LA – Jonathan Andrew Shanks, 23, passed away May 4, 2013. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. A memorial service will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel at noon on Thursday, May 9, 2013. Graveside honors will be held following the service at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Jonathan was born June 24, 1989, in Bossier City to Dr. Charles and Stephenie Shanks. He lived most of his life in Haughton, LA. Jonathan joined the National Guard and left for a tour of duty in Iraq in March 2010. When he returned from Iraq, he and his wife, Shelby, moved to Benton.
Jonathan is survived by his beloved wife, Shelby Lenox Shanks; his two precious sons, Steven Reed Shanks (5) and Nathan Lee Shanks (15 months). He is also survived by his father, Dr. Charles Dennis Shanks; his mother and step-father, Stephenie Williams Sims and Mark Sims; twin sisters, Abby Shanks and Audra Shanks LeGrand and her husband, Jonathan; niece and nephews, Kaiya and Luke LeGrand; step-brother, Drew Sims; step-sister, Rebekah Sims; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kyle and Michele Gentry; brother-in-law, Logan Gentry; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Elaine Williams, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Jonathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Ellen Shanks.
Honorary pallbearers are dear friends: Charlie Williams, Kane Neal, Grant Neal, Jonathan LeGrand, Corey Wallace, and Logan Gentry.
