Joseph Breaux, 79, passed away on February 24, 2011. He was born March 11, 1931 in Westwego, LA to Mae and Pierre Breaux.
A Mass to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Mary Queen of Peace with Father Joseph Ampatt officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will take place at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Mr. Breaux proudly served his country in the U.S.A.F. during the Vietnam Conflict earning a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), loved watching sports and working bingo. Joe’s greatest joy in life was watching his grandchildren grow into the fine young people they are today.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Anne; his parents; infant son, Pierre; and brother, Pete Breaux. He is survived by his son, Mark and wife Jeannine; two daughters, Rita and Agnes; six grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Joseph, Deanna, Caleb, and Claudia; two great grandchildren, Billie and Mat; three sisters, Uella “Chick” and husband Malvin, Joan “Tootsie”, and Cheryl and husband Danny; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons; Ryan Laux, Joseph and Caleb Breaux and good friends Gary Price, Jack Fesmire and Walt Siedlecki Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Food Pantry at Christ the King Catholic Church in Joe’s honor.
