Larry Ronald Ross, Sr.

Larry Ronald Ross Sr., age 78, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025. Larry was born on December 11, 1946, in Nashville, Arkansas to Joe Garner Ross and Pauline Vernell Ross (Nell).

Larry honorably served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts for his bravery. Following his military service, he built a successful career in banking, eventually serving as Senior Vice President at Citizens National Bank.

Cynthia Ross, the love of his life for nearly 40 years, passed away in 2008. They are now joyfully reunited! One of his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren in everything they did. In recent years, his heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his beloved great-grandchildren, Ross Tyler Markiel and Alice Jean Markiel. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandchild from Cameron and Ellen, a role he was deeply excited to embrace once again. Affectionately known as “Paw” to many, he had a special place in his heart for every child who came through his life — loving them all as his own.

Larry is survived by his son Larry Ronald Ross Jr. and wife Stacy; granddaughter, Kelly Anna Markiel and husband Justin; grandsons, Cameron Ross, wife, Ellen and Zachary Ross; brother, Robert (Bob) William Ross and wife Melanie; sisters, Nancy Kay Elkins and Martha Jo Ward, husband, Ted; sister-in-law, Debbie Paul James; two brother-in-law, Mike Pool, wife, Sherri and Patrick Pool, wife, Kimberly. Along with many nieces and nephews who he loved deeply; Ted Ward, Jr. (Aimme) - children; Grasyn, Gunner and Garrett; David Webre (Karen), Emily Webre, Matthew Webre (Megan), Ryan Webre (Alex), son; Mason, Kathy Fox (Eric), Stephanie Shea (Forrest), daughter; Rosalie, Kelcie Ross(Dejuan), son; Kason, PJ Davis (Derrek), children; Peyton and Kayla, Shannon Poole, daughter; Alex, Stephanie Smith (Jason), daughters; Sophia and Claire; Summer James, son; John-Parker Ross Chessier, and Teal Ivy (Thomas), daughter; Palmer.

He preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Ann Pool Ross; parents, Joe G. Ross and Pauline V. Ross; mother-in-law, Emma Josephine Pool; nephews Sean Pool and Harold Bruce Marioneaux, and brother-in-law, Boyce Elkins.

Pallbearers will be Justin Markiel, Matthew Holcomb, David Webre, Ted Ward, Jr., Jason Smith, Pat McConathy, Fred Rogers, Stacy Dart, TJ Forest, and Matt Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bonvenu Bank Employees, Larry Toms, Tony Forest, Robbie Jackson, Jim Benson, and Randy James.

A visitation for Larry will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Central Assembly of God, 700 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM with Dr. Randy Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
