Bossier City, LA
Larry L Taylor, 78, passed away at his home on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Larry was born in Durant, OK on December 21, 1946 to Lawrence and Ala Mae Johnson Taylor. Larry grew up in Elm Grove, LA where his parents owned and operated Taylor’s Grocery. Larry attended school at Elm Grove Elementary and Ringgold High School and then received his high school diploma from Haughton “University” as he fondly referred to it. He attended College at Northwestern State college of Louisiana in Natchitoches, Louisiana and Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
After graduation Larry served in the US Army.
Larry defined the term entrepreneur. He established and operated the Tayco Foods chain of grocery stores, was a licensed realtor/broker, a residential building contractor, owned and operated dirt contracting businesses, raised sweet potatoes commercially, and owned and operated a mobile home dealership; just to name some of his business ventures.
He was active in many civic organizations. He was elected to the Bossier Parish Police Jury as a young man; was one of the founding members of the Board of Directors of Citizens National Bank (Bonvenu Bank); served on the Red River Waterway Commission.
Larry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed operating his heavy equipment, that he had bought throughout the years. He spent most of his time in Hackberry at his fishing camp that he built. Larry and Glenda enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveled to many places. He spent his younger years coaching Tay’s football teams and loved it. He also loved collecting antique cars and had several over the years.
He had a heart of gold. Larry loved the Lord and was quite the Bible scholar. Just ask any of his friends about Psalm 82.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Corley Taylor; his son, Larry L (Tay) Taylor and wife Carrie; Glenda's son, Tony Chandler; his grandchildren, Jack Henry Taylor and Maxwell Thomas (Max) Taylor (TJ and Hailee Chandler); and great grandchildren, (Faithlyn, Hayden, Aubree and Davon Chandler).
