

Services to celebrate the life of Leon Mathis Wells will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. and will be conducted by Rev. Tommy Patton at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Highway 80 in Haughton, LA. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Masonic rites will be conducted at the service. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Hill Crest.
Leon was born August 18, 1928 in Sherrill, AR to Homer and Bessie Walker Wells. He served in the Air Force. He married Dorothy Bost and moved to Baton Rouge where he became an alumni of LSU. In 1963 he was appointed Personnel Officer of the Federal Hansen Disease Center in Carville, LA. He designed and provided supervisory training to the Indian Health Services throughout the United States and retired from the Federal Government.
Leon was a 32nd degree Mason and served as master of the Martain McClanahan Lodge in Bossier City and was also a Hobo Clown for the El Karubah Shriners in Shreveport and Shriners Temple in Baton Rouge. He was a member of Cypress Baptist Church.
Of all the things he did in life his greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Bost and second wife, Pearl Maxey.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Wells Festervan; grandchildren, Stuart Festervan, Alison Brown (Jeremy), Alicia Draper (Brett), Jacob Festervan (Brittany) and Alexandra Anderson (John); great grandchildren, Jake and Judson Brown, Beau and Andie Draper and Camryn Festervan.
Stuart Festervan, Jacob Festervan, Dan Festervan, Brett Draper, John Anderson and Jeremy Brown will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the CNA’s at Alzheimer’s Dementia Unit at Brookdale for their kindness of taking care of Papa.
