Leona Brown Liggett, age 73 of Bossier City LA, gained her wings on Sunday November 26, 2023 at Ochsner Hospital in Shreveport, following a short, unexpected, illness. She was born December 25, 1949 in Shreveport La.
Leona enjoyed working for the Bossier Council on Aging where she worked for over 10 years, after her retirement from Libby Glass. She loved her co-workers and seniors. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, eating at restaurants, and going to casinos to gamble. Her proudest moments were when she had her boys, Tim and Anthony and also becoming Nana to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She wanted to be with family as often as possible.
Leona is preceded in death by her significant other, Delmar “Early” Wynn; her parents, Lonnie Brown and Daisy Sandidge; brother, Cecil Brown; and sister, Sonya Louise Larson. Leona is survived in death by her two sons, Timothy Rayland Henry and Anthony Scott Gartman; daughter- law Christina Plunkett; sister, Mary Iona Brown; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many relatives; and plenty of friends, including her 2 best friends, Elaine Rivers and Betty Foster.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4th at 2 pm at Hill Crest Funeral Home located at 601 Hwy 80 East, Haughton, LA, with Brother Steve Casey presiding. Graveside services will follow, within the cemetery.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home in Leona's name until Saturday December 2 , 2023, by 3:00 pm.
