Funeral services for Lois Brooks, 91, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Dietzel officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Lois passed away October 21, 2011 in Shreveport. She was a 1939 graduate of Lewisville High School, Lewisville, AR; a High School Poet, graduate of Norton School of Business, accomplished seamstress-made uniforms for military during the War before she moved to Alexandria, LA, and met Oliver Brooks.
She enjoyed baking wedding cakes for all her grandchildren and friends, member of Volksmarch and traveled to numerous walks, she was a member of Zonta Club, Beta Sigma Phi, graduate of Dale Carnegie School, graduate of Art at LSU-S, experienced marksman, member of Cross Bayou Emmaus, and a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
Lois was co-founder of Brooks Roofing and Sheet Metal which later became Brooks Heating and Air Conditioning-a family owned business.
In later years she took up oil painting and she won many awards…refining her talents to China and Porcelain Painting with her sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-three years Oliver “O.L.” Brooks.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ruby Little and husband Larry of Haughton, LA; Panda Wagner and husband Clint of Marysville, Ohio; sister, Floy Fay McClain and husband Don of Plano, TX; two brothers, Dudley Beckham and wife Sandra of Texarkana,TX; Rodney Beckham and wife Martha of Prescott,AZ;
Five grandchildren, Renee` (Mike) Mason, Jamie Harris, Richard (Jodi) Little, II, Amy (Randy) Warrick, and Jenniffer (Paul) Darlington.
Ten Great-Grandchildren, Gerard LeBorde, Jessica Mason, Jason Mason, Brandon Darlington, Adam Harris, Mariha Darlington, Richard Paul Church, Shelby Little, Christian Warrick, and Trey Little III.
Two Great-Great Grandchildren Riley LeBorde and Daemon Ray Burroughs.
Pallbearers will be Richard Paul Church, Richard Little,II., Brandon Darlington, Jason Mason, Johnathan Adam Harris, Gerard LeBorde.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Warrick, Christian Warrick, Richard Larry Little,III., Paul Darlington, Rodney Beckham, and Dudley Beckham.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1700 Buckner St., Shreveport, LA; 71101 or to the American Diabetes Association.
