Alex was born on 17 May 1937 to Alexander and Evelyn Napier in Redlands, CA and died on 4 July 2012 at home in Haughton with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of forty six years, Anne Napier, and his children Kathy Vaughan of Fredericksburg, VA and her husband Jimmy, Patsy and Kevin Gordey of Navarre, FL, Mary Frances and Rob Downs of Bossier City, John Napier and his wife Gretchen Younghans of Flagstaff, AZ and Eileen Napier of Ione, WA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ashley and Emily Gordey, Becca and Sarah Vaughan, Connor, Aidan and Sean Patrick Downs and Fionn and Campbell Napier, sister Nancy Bondurant of Boise, ID and brother Dan Napier of Manhattan Beach, CA.
Alex was a resident of Bossier Parish for the better part of forty three years. He retired as a Lt. Col from Barksdale AFB after 28 years of service. He worked for Louisiana Association for the Blind for five years and then worked with Vance Enterprises part time until the time of his death. Alex was a loyal parishioner at Holy Family Parish, a member of the Bossier Optimist club, the Bossier Parish Posse, and he really enjoyed his work as a standardized patient at LSU Medical School.
Honoring Alex as pallbearers will be his sons-in-law Col. Kevin Gordey and Lt. Col Rob Downs, and good friends Gary Abraham, Jon Husak, Jim Merrell, and Don Payne. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA 71101 in Alex’s memory.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Robert Massingill and his staff at the CTC at Schumpert Medical Center, Dr. Stuart Blum, our friends at Christus Schumpert Hospice and all our good friends for their love and support.
