Marie Rhodes Trotter

Marie was born on March 10, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. She was employed as a crossing guard for Bossier Parish School Board from October 1996 to June of 2013 and had a genuine love for all the children and parents she came in contact with. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She always gave her all to her family no matter the circumstances and truly enjoyed taking care of them. She was a very protective sister to her sisters Glenda and Rhonda and was true “Daddy’s Girl” able to repair almost anything she came in contact with. She loved to make people laugh by doing her impression of Elvis and singing happy birthday to those she loved “Elvis Style”.

She loved to fish, being in the outdoors, and had a love for classic cars, motorcycles, and riding 4-wheelers. She adored her husband Landry of 50 years and was completely devoted to him and was always by his side through all the challenges life can bring. Her faith for the Lord was strong and she always gave God the glory in all things and circumstances. She absolutely adored her only grandchild Brandon and was the light of her life!

She is predeceased in death by her only son Gaylon Allen Trotter, her late son-in-law Stacy Reed Larkin, and her father Thomas Glenn Rhodes. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she showed her devotion to them every day. Left to cherish her precious memory are her husband of 50 years Landry Allen Trotter, her mother Eunice Rhodes, two sisters Glenda Rhodes Hood, and Rhonda Rhodes Hensley and husband Rock, daughter Lisa Marie Wilson and husband Dan, and her only grandson Brandon Reed Larkin. She also leaves behind a host of nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, special friends Paul and Janet Allen, and many, many other friends whom she loved. To know her was to love her.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Maynor, Tracy Downey, Bill Larkin, Loren Holder, Paul Higgins, and Garry Jefferson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Downey and Jeff Joyner.

The family would like to thank all of our friends and extended family for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Memorials can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the American Heart Association.
