Mary Ann Giovengo, age 79, of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. She was born March 25, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Lemuel Andrews and Elba Lee Holland Holley. Mary Ann graduated from Bossier High School in 1962 and lived most of her life in Bossier City where she devoted herself to raising her children. After her children were grown she took up the grandchildren as her life. Mary Ann worked at General Motors as an assembly line worker for 19 years. When she retired, she spent most of her time with her family which included her friend and sister, Cookie Avery.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Karen Sowell; two sisters: Kathy Haas, Carolyn Holley; two brothers: James Holley, and Johnny Holley.
Left to cherish Mary Ann's beautiful memories will be one son, Joseph Giovengo, Jr. and wife Danielle; one daughter, Susan Kirkland and husband Cary; special cousin and appointed daughter, JoAnn Porter and husband John; two sisters: Cookie Avery, Mary Gordon and husband Ron; seven grandchildren: Brandon Melancon, Blake Sowell, Shelby Sowell, Landon Kirkland, Tanner Kirkland, Joshua Giovengo, Katie Giovengo; one great granddaughter, Paisley Melancon; many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
A visitation for Mary will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with reading of the rosary at 6:30PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. A celebration of life will occur Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Christ The King, 425 McCormick Street, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
Honoring Mary Ann as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brandon Melancon, Blake Sowell, Landon Kirkland, Tanner Kirkland, Joshua Giovengo, and friend, Nate Gurinsky.
