She graduated from State High School June 5, 1941 in Natchitoches and later married Alfred W. May on July 4, 1942.
This was during the Second World War, Mary went to Orange Texas, to work in the shipyard helping build ships for the war effort and Alfred went to Germany and fought several campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge.
After the war Alfred went into accounting and Mary went through beauty school and started a career of doing hair that she continued until she was 92. This was her life and enjoyed each and every one of her customers.
Mary had one son Dwight C May, who loved and took care of her after Alfred died with help from his wife Linda till her passing in 2020.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother in 1976 and father in1987; her brother George Keil Sr. in 2004; and husband Alfred W. May 2010.
Mary is survived by her son; Dwight C May, two granddaughters: Denise Adams, Keila Powell; great-grandchildren: Cameron Theodos, Elizabeth Groves, Chloe Powell, Little Charlie Powell, Gavin Powell; two great-great grandchildren: Noah and Harper Theodos; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Service will be Tuesday April 25 at 1pm, graveside at Hillcrest Memorial Park. There will not be visitation prior to the service.
