Jesus and his angels came for Mical Wayne Collins early Monday morning, February 6th, 2012. He fought a valiant war against leukemia for one and a half years. But because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he did not lose the battle. He is fully restored and vibrant today in Heaven and will live for all eternity.
Mical was born in Springhill, Louisiana on February 10th, 1949 to Cora and C.B. Collins. He grew to be a strong but sweet man there surrounded by a huge, loving family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mical was a trucking owner-operator who has driven to every state in the continental United States and every province of Canada. Mical felt blessed that for the past five years, he was a driver for Wal-Mart’s private fleet.
Mical leaves behind his wife Pat; a daughter Stephanie Collins Winkler and son-in-law Steve Winkler; his mother Cora McDonald Collins; a sister Angie Collins; two step-daughters Wren Kimberly Ripoll and son-in-law Chris Ripoll; and Kristen Brandon and son-in-law Jerry Brandon; grandsons Ty Ripoll, Will Ripoll, Jerry Lee Brandon; granddaughter Rayne Ripoll; step-grandson Hagan Brandon; and grandson Lawson Bo Brandon, who is in Heaven with Jesus, and now, his “Papa Mike”.
Mical’s joy and focus in this life was his family and his home. He could never get his fill of family gatherings with lots of good home cookin’. A favorite day would be just hanging out with his daughter Stephanie discussing life or spending time with his grandkids. He loved to watch them play ball, take them to an Astros’ game, or take them fishing. The sweetest words this side of Heaven to Mical were “Papa Mike”.
Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Highway 80 in Haughton from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 10th, which would have been Mical’s 63rd birthday. His memorial service will be led by his cousin, Ricky McDonald on Saturday, February 11th at 2 p.m. in the Faith Chapel at First Baptist Church Bossier City. Faith Chapel is special as Mical was baptized there. Burial service will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Following the burial service, the wonderful ladies of First Baptist Church Bossier will provide a meal and a place to gather at the Hospitality Room in the main building of the church.
Pallbearers honoring Mical will be his grandsons Ty Ripoll, Will Ripoll, and Jerry Lee Brandon; Duane Lindsey; C.R. “Pat” Patterson; John Jones; Merlyn Arnold; James Ray McDonald; and Ellis McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Haughton Dixie Baseball, P.O. Box 340, Princeton, LA 71067 in honor of Mical’s beloved grandson, Lawson Bo Brandon.
