

SHREVEPORT, LA – Services celebrating the life of Michael Lewis Rivers, age 57, will be held at 1PM on Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic in Zwolle, LA. The family will receive visitors Sunday, December 1st from 5 till 7PM at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Surrounded by his daughters and sisters, Mike left us to meet his Lord and Savior on November 28, 2013, after a brief illness.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Rivers; and a brother, Joseph F. Rivers. He is survived by daughters, Chasity Rivers and Angela Rivers of Shreveport, LA; brother, Herbert Rivers of Zwolle, LA; sisters, Faye Burlison and husband Charles, Judy Furches and husband Gary of Shreveport, LA, Sue Estess and husband Johnnie of Bossier City, LA, Bonnie Collins and husband Doug of West Virginia; sister in law, Elizabeth Rivers of Zwolle, LA; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Caylin, Dylan, Aliyah, Elijah, and Ty; a special nephew and friend, Rodney Sepulvado and several nieces and nephews.
Mike served in the United States Air Force and will be buried with military honors. He worked at Western Electric and Beard Industries as a machinist for several years. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid sports fan. When he wasn’t able to participate in these sports he was watching them on television. He loved his family and the memories of time we spent together will always bring smiles and comfort to the ones he left behind.
Honoring Mike as pallbearers are Mark Rivers, Doyle Sepulvado, Gary Furches, Mack McMellon, Joshua Small, and Larry Ferguson.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the MICU unit at LSU and Veteran’s hospital for their support and care and also, a special thanks to Mack for his exceptional friendship with Mike.
