Mildred Callie Giovengo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at Cypress Point Rehabilitation facility in Bossier City after a lengthy illness. She was 81 years old.
Born on July 13, 1944, in Benson Rural, Louisiana, Mildred was the cherished daughter of Mattie Verlin Peters and David Wesley Permenter. She is preceded in death by her beloved Jenny, her mother & father, son Brad Jennings, stepdaughter Karen Giovengo Sowell, and sister Peggy Mudd.
She spent her life rooted in love, family, and faith, and built a legacy of kindness and strength that will live on through all who knew her.
Mildred was the devoted wife of Joe Giovengo, with whom she shared 16 years of adventure and companionship. Together, they enjoyed being members of the CMA (CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLES ASSOCIATION), attending rallies, traveling, and especially looked forward to the annual Ladies CMA Luncheon every February.
She was a proud mother to her children: Mary Rollins (and her late husband Ricky Rollins), Joyce Davis (and husband Bobby), Joey Giovengo Jr and wife Danielle and Susan Giovengo Kirkland and Husband Cary-- Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren & great grandchildren—Chris Anderson, Kelly Anderson, Chase Davis, Camden, Lane, Holden, & Cole—and numerous step children & step grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy, and two sisters,Thelma Weems Small and Sara Kennedy.
Mildred dedicated over 34 years of service to Libbey Glass, where she formed lifelong friendships with coworkers who became like family. Her warmth, loyalty, and work ethic left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Above all, Mildred loved her family fiercely. Her home was always open, her heart always full, and her laughter always present. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her adventurous spirit, and the beautiful life she built with Joe.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. In Lieu of Flowers make donations to Open Roads Ministry or CMA Shreveport The Believers.
A celebration of Mildred's life will be held on August 20, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037 with Raymond Wilkerson officiating.
