Services for Opal Cleo Ivy Browning, 96, will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in the Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Raney of First Baptist Bossier officiating. Interment will follow in the Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, Louisiana. The family will be receiving guests for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at Hill Crest.
Opal was born December 31, 1914, in Benton, Arkansas, to the late Elbert Eligia Ivy and Nola Ritchey Ivy and was called to her eternal resting place July 9, 2011, in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bossier City, Louisiana, since April 1955, active in children’s Sunday School for forty-six years of her life. Opal was a member of W.M.U. since 1943 to present, with Senior Adults of First Baptist since 1979, and only charter member, and her greatest love, including her pastor.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband; Lowell Randolph Browning, one sister; and four brothers. Left to cherish the memories of Opal will be her two sisters; Beulah Wright, and Hazel Ramsey and husband Jim, one brother; Alvin Ivy and wife Mary Ann, along with numerous niece and nephews, great niece and nephews, along with many extended family members and great friends.
Honoring Opal as pallbearers will be Herman Weiland, Dean Mulig, Jim Johnson, Reynold Borne, Lucian Furr, and George Daniel. Mrs. Opal’s Nephews will be honorary pallbearers.
The family has requested that memorials be made to Camp Bethany, 9766 Highway 79
