A Life Celebration in honor of Eddie Nixon will be held 2 PM, Monday, June 5, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. The family will welcome visitors on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 5PM to 7PM at the Funeral Home.
Paul Edward Nixon was born to Justin Paul and Alice Nichols Nixon on Wednesday, December 7, 1955. After high school, he proudly served his country by joining the Army. By his account, while he was there he was a pretty good Golden Gloves boxer. By profession, he was an excellent house painter. Those who know Eddie best describe him as a “Master Delegator” with a huge heart, a great sense of humor and a laid back attitude. He was very interested in the outdoors and spent countless hours bow hunting and fishing and when inside watched The Hunting Channel often. He loved his dogs, the Saints, LSU and Ice Cream, but his passion for those things paled in comparison to his affection for family and the time he spent with them. This loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend said his final “Love ya later!” surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
Preceding Mr. Nixon in death are his parents, wife Linda Woods Nixon, daughter Miranda Leigh Nixon, and brothers Paul Lorain “Nick” Nixon, Billy Mack Nixon, Leland Russel “Buckie” Nixon and Roger Nixon. Left to cherish his memory are sons Paul Edward Nixon, Jr. and Justin Edward Nixon; daughter Kandis Nixon Valdez; grandchildren Parker Nixon, Presley Nixon, Justin Nixon, Jr., Aubrey Manea, Adrien Nixon, Summer Lussier, and Dario Galvez; brothers Larry Wayne Nixon and Kenneth Phillips; and sisters Elaine Donaldson and Anna Jean Kate.
Pallbearers for Monday’s service are Tommy Miller, Thomas Miller, Jeremy Reed, Tim Clyburn, Terry Parish and Justin Nixon, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Dario Galvez and Adrien Nixon.
