Paul passed away from complications of the covid infection on November 4, 2020. He fought the virus for over three weeks before finally succumbing.
An online Celebration of Life service for Paul will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Hill Crest Memorial Mausoleum Chapel in Haughton, Louisiana, with William Roby officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Due to covid restrictions there will be no visitation.
Paul Eugene Raymond was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on January 25, 1951. His Dad’s job kept them on the move, and he grew up in places like Delhi, Louisiana; Inverness and Banner, Mississippi; and Brentwood, Tennessee. He graduated high school in 1969 in Franklin, Tennessee. Paul served two years in the United States Army and in 1971 was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. In 1991 he got an associate’s degree from Bossier Community College.
Paul’s lifelong passion was music. He was an accomplished guitar and harmonica player, and never was he known to hide his light under a basket. In high school he started a rock band called “The Esoterics” and played for a show called “Turn On” on WLAC-TV in Nashville. He later played the night-club circuit in Shreveport-Bossier City.
Paul became a devout Christian, and he loved playing praise music at several churches in the Bossier area.
Paul was preceded in death by wife Georgia, father Fred Raymond and mother Kathryn “Kitty” Raymond.
Paul is survived by daughter Genie Nieten and her husband Edward of Kingston Springs, Tennessee; son Aaron Raymond of Bossier City; brother Cliff Raymond and his wife Lois of Wimberley, Texas; brother Ray Raymond and his wife Theresa of Spring, Texas; girlfriend, Charlotte Hanna Schilling; and hundreds of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whose world will feel a little emptier with Paul gone from it.
