Robert Sterling Cochran , Sr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - A celebration of life service for Robert Sterling Cochran, Sr., 82, will be held Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 11 am at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA. with Rev. Pat Day officiating. Visitation will be held after the service in Bain Hall Room 101 from 12 noon until 2 pm.

Bobby was born November 23, 1933, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to William and Ora Cochran and died November 13, 2016 in Shreveport. He was raised in Bossier City and graduated from Bossier High School in 1952 and went on to attend Louisiana Tech University where he graduated in 1956. Bobby then served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Bamburg, Germany. After returning to Shreveport, Bobby founded Red River Machine Works and East Point Enterprise. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Co-Wed Sunday School class. After retiring, anyone looking for Bobby knew the first place to check was on the golf course. He spent all of his spare time on the greens of East Ridge Country Club enjoying a round of golf with his friends. After golf, you could find Bobby working in his yard and enjoying time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; sister, Mary Ellen Holstead and husband George B. Holstead; and brother, W.O. “Billy” Cochran; and mother-in-law, Naoma Whitfield.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Whitfield Cochran; daughter, Jane Cochran McCarter and husband Andrew F. McCarter, sons, Robert S. Cochran, Jr. and wife Dee, William Clay Cochran and wife Ashley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Andy McCarter, Amanda McCarter, Alex Cochran, Collin Cochran, Nathan Cochran, Skyler Cochran, Allison Cochran; and great-granddaughter, Tristyn McCarter.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Montclair Park Memory Care Unit and staff and Hospice of Shreveport Bossier and staff.
