HAUGHTON, LA - Robert Stanley Morris, born August 21, 1937 to parents Stanley and Marie Morris in Manhattan, NY, has passed away at the young age of (76) seventy-six on the evening of November 29, 2013.
Known as “Bob” by friends and professionals alike… as Grandpa, Poopa, and many other nicknames by family members. He turned his early love of big band, jazz, and dance music into a lengthy career in United States Air Force Band playing the trumpet. He entertained servicemen and civilian audiences alike while stationed and relocated between bases from Iceland to Washington, including stops in Ohio, Colorado, Georgia, Texas, Alaska, and Louisiana. One of his fondest memories and experiences was playing in the coliseums during his overseas tour to Spain. He retired having reached the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and entered into civilian life in Louisiana.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years Barbara Lou Morris; two sons Robert Kirk Morris and wife Ramona of Salem, Oregon, and Martin Lee Morris of Haughton, Louisiana… by four granddaughters Kristina, Stephani, Jessica, and Jennifer and four great granddaughters.
Bob was very passionate about music, photography, woodworking, electronics, computers, automobiles, fishing, and any new or unusual gadget, tool, or stereo equipment.
Above all he loved his family and enjoyed life to it’s fullest potential…he will be severely missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating his life is planned for the spring of 2014…the exact date and location are yet to be determined, however announcements will be made once plans are finalized.
