Roger Bates

Roger was the owner of Belt-Tech, Inc for over 20 years, prior to that he was a traveling salesman for multiple companies selling parts for conveyor belt systems. Roger was an avid fisherman, hunter and coin collector. His favorite place on earth was Caddo Lake. He loved bowling at Holiday Lanes and trips to Las Vegas. Roger married his high school sweetheart, Linda Diane Strong, November 6, 1964 and remained together until her untimely death August 14,2011. Roger was a little rough around the edges but he had a huge heart of gold that will be deeply missed.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife, Linda S. Bates; parents, Charles R. and Annie R. Bates; brother, Ronald C. Bates; father- and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Dorothea Strong.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Dr. Michael L. "Larry" Bates and his wife, Jennifer of Geismar, Louisiana; daughter, Teri Lynn Bates and husband, Brian Rachal of Greenwood Village, Colorado; granddaughters Taylor M. Norris and husband, Jonathan of Bossier City, Louisiana, Mason M. Anderson and husband, Luke of Haughton, Louisiana; and four beautiful great-grandchildren Benson, Myleigh, August Jo and Liam.

Visitation for Roger will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 US Highway 80 East, Haughton, LA 71037. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 US-80, Haughton, LA 71037.
