Born on 29 Oct, 1932, in Poteet, TX, Tillie was the daughter of James and Lena. Tillie was one of two girls and seven boys. She graduated from Poteet High School in 1952 and married Ernest Scott McNair on 5 June, 1955. They were the proud parents of two sons, Gene and Carl, and one daughter, Jessica.
Tillie was a devoted US Air Force wife, and she dedicated her life to making their house a warm and loving home, especially while Ernest was deployed to Vietnam. She was an avid gardener and everything she touched flourished as did the hearts she touched. During the mid-1970's, Tillie made hundreds of ceramic Vikings to benefit the AFJROTC unit her husband started at Airline High School.
There are many euphemisms for wives who stayed home to raise their children, but none of them reflects the loving and caring nature of this special woman. She was always there to bandage a wound, care for us when we were ill, and hug us when we were sad or afraid. Only one word accurately describes a woman who devotes her life to her family -- Mom.
Tillie is survived by her husband, Ernest Scott McNair; brother, Johnny Willborn; sister, Denna Willborn Statz; son, Gene McNair (Kathleen); daughter, Jessica McNair (Susan); grandchildren, Christopher, Catherine, Rachel, Emily, Kimberly, and David (Kelly); great grandsons, Jonathan, Bryan, and Andrew. Tillie was preceded in death by her son Carl (KB5WMY) in 2019.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Allen Cox and Nurse Morgan from Louisiana Family Practice. Thanks also to the doctors and staff at Willis Knighton Medical Center and the staff at Garden Court who provided Tillie with the best possible care.
There will be a visitation at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 HWY 80 East in Haughton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, 29 Feb 2020 with the funeral to follow.
