AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Viola Weaver Dark

17 décembre 1921 – 12 mars 2024
Avis de décès de Viola Weaver Dark
AUX SOINS DE

Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park

Viola Weaver Campbell Dark (Mama Vi) passed away March 12, 2024. She was born in Bossier Parish to Henry Vincen and Ora Griffitts Weaver in December 1921. After ten years of courtship, Vi was married for 42 years to the late W.V. “Bill” Dark.

During World War II, Vi worked with her sister Sally at the Louisiana Ammunition Plant. She then worked in retail for J.C. Penney before beginning a 35-year career at Pioneer Bank & Trust Company, retiring as a Vice President in 1984.

Vi’s passions included playing bridge and golf at Palmetto Country Club, especially with her long-time friend Connie Pharis. She shared her horticulture knowledge with the Benton Garden Club and devoted her cooking talents to Soup Days at St. George’s Episcopal Church. Carole Kolo, Mother Terry Deokaran and Ret. Rev. Jamie Flowers, along with many other church members continued to support Vi after her move to The Savannah at The Oaks of Louisiana in 2012. There, she mastered Bean Bag Baseball as a consistent homerun hitter for the Savannah Swingers team.

Vi was predeceased by five brothers: Benny, Henry, Billy Jo, Dale and Cecil Weaver; and three sisters: Dorothy Busby, Ruby Dement and Pearl “Sally” Clements. She also mourned the loss of her daughter, Dennis Henson; stepson, Mark W. Dark and special son-in-law, John Henson.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Eddie Campbell; bonus daughters, Marsha Dark and Tamee Dark; grandchildren, Tanya Martin, Tiffani Henson, and Tony Campbell; special daughter-in-law, Moneda Henson plus numerous relatives and friends dear to her heart. Along with recent caregivers at the Health Center at Live Oak and Willis Knighton Hospice, Vi departs from us after more than a decade of overwhelming support and love by her Savannah family.

Private services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Vi requested “She be remembered with a kind word to someone who needs you. To love and be loved is the greatest gift on earth.” You are encouraged to celebrate Vi’s life in any form. If desired, consider expressions of fond memories to your favorite charity or St. George’s Episcopal Church, 1959 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71112.
