Wayne was born in Carmi, Illinois on March 27, 1943 to Edd L Reed and Helen Deland Brazzel Reed. After moving to Bossier City, Louisiana he proudly served in United States Air Force until 1968 when he met the love of his life for the last 53 years Diana Jo Craig. That same year he also joined the Bossier City Fire Department where he served for 25 years.
Wayne was a hard worker and successful business man. He and his loving wife Diana owned Bossier Tent Company and Uncle Sam’s Firework for over 30 years. Together they grew Uncle Sam’s fireworks into one of the largest fireworks dealers in the Shreveport Bossier area.
Wayne lived an adventurous life where he flew airplanes, raced race cars and traveled across the United States in his RV. He loved his annual Walt Disney World trips with his family. He was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed fishing with the people he loved most. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his family. Wayne always had an open door and warm loving home he shared. He was a generous man and helped so many people when they were in need. Wayne was always waiting with his best friend Bear at the firecracker building for his customers, friends and family to walk through that door, get a cup coffee and sit down to talk.
Wayne was a man of his word and built a mountain of love, laughter and fun during his lifetime. He was loved by so many coworkers, friends and family and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father Edd L Reed, mother Helen Deland Brazzel Reed and beloved cousin Jerry Brazzel.
Those who survive and celebrate his life include his loving wife, Diana Reed; daughter Angel Nuckolls and husband Jerry; son, Kevin Reed; brother, James Reed and wife Janie, grandchildren, Kristian Nuckolls, Lindsay Nuckolls, Tiffany Hoffman, Michael Reed, Ashley Rutledge and numerous great grandchildren.
A visitation shall be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel located at 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, LA. A funeral service will also be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 lead by Jim Girouard. Interment will follow service at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers for Wayne shall be Michael Cale Howell, Jason Dolan, Will Green, Bert Kapp, Bud Reed, and Brandon Robertson.
