William Eugene “Billy” Heins, 97 of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away October 9, 2022. His last days were spent at home with his adoring wife and loving family. Blessed with good health for most of his life he remained sharp-witted and parted this world with remarkable grace.
A member of the “Greatest Generation”, the hardships of the Great Depression and service in World War II shaped him. He held dear values of honesty, integrity, self-discipline, and hard work that were instilled in his children and grandchildren. We are eternally grateful for his example and guidance.
He served in World War II as a US Navy tail gunner, attended Louisiana Tech, and worked 35 years for Commercial National Bank of Shreveport retiring as a Senior Vice President. He enjoyed golf, travel, genealogy, and was an avid reader. He cherished time with family and friends and fancied a glass of good Scotch.
He was preceded in death by his mother Iola Wilcox Heins, grandparents Jeff and Elizabeth Wilcox, grandson Todd Breedlove (Laura), siblings Louise Denicola (Frank), Jack Heins (Norma), and Ann Hawkins (Robert).
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Linda Kirkpatrick Heins, children Linda Breedlove (Glen), Leslie Heins (Teresa), Robby Heins (Jill), Andy Heins (Heather), Grandchildren Tim Breedlove (Shannon), Tye Breedlove (Brandy), Lindsey Heins Sonnier, Christopher Heins (Jéannette), Jason Heins, Zachary Heins, Andrew Heins, Matthew Heins, 10 great grandchildren, and sibling Robert “Pokey” Heins.
