I learned of Arnold's passing just today, nearly a year after his funeral.  I can speak for the jazz community, of which he was an active member, to mourn the loss of the premier Art Tatum researcher/biographer and generous friend.

I am so saddened to learn of Arnold's passing. 

His generous soul and indefatigable energy in his pursuit of all things Art Tatum were an inspiration to me for the past 40 years.  I would never call myself his protege, but he was truly my mentor. 

I treasure our conversations and letters, and feel so fortunate that we were able to meet in person in NYC a few years ago. 

My most sincere condolences and heartfelt best wishes to everyone in Arnold's family and inner circle.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Laubich's passing. We at the University of Toledo loved hearing from him about his Tatum research and collection. Since his visit to our campus in 1992 we have enjoyed sharing our news about our Tatum events with him. We have lost a great friend and scholar; I hope someone is able to continue his work and complete his Art Tatum book project. I am very sad to learn of Arnold's passing. Arnold was one of the smartest people I have ever met in my life. He was helpful to the town of Greenburgh, always constructive. Greenburgh will never be the same. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I will ask the Greenburgh Town Board to start our next meeting with a moment of silence in honor and in memory of Arnold.

We  are so sad about the loss of Arnie. He was a sweet, kind, generous and intelligent man, with a unique sense of  humor. We will miss him. Our deepest sympathy to Lori, Dan, Issac, Sandy and Benny. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you.

Arnold was not only the president of New Plan, but he was a friend and mentor and an inspiration.  He gave me the opportunity to grasp my dreams and make more of myself and I will forever be grateful  Rest in peace kind sir.

I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of Arnie's passing. He was my second oldest friend in the world; we met in September 1943, on our very first day at Bronx Science. We spent a lot of time together, some of it because I was on the track and cross-country teams and he was manager, and much of it as just friends. After graduating, we went to different colleges but maintained intermittent contact for a few years. We drifted apart after I left NYC to go to medical school and our friendship lapsed.  In 1986, forty years after graduating, we got together at the high school reunion and summarized our lives for one another.  We have been in close contact ever since, dining together whenever I got to New York from Cleveland. 
Arnie was a wonderful human being and friend. Warm, amiable, thoughtful, considerate. Proud of his daughter, son-in-law, and particularly, of his grandchildren. Extremely successful in his career in real estate, he was passionate about his interest in the great jazz pianist Art Tatum.
I will miss him greatly.
