
Ellen Tolk Burke Skolnick, 68, of White Plains, New York passed away on June 23, 2012. Ellen was born in New York, NY on March 24, 1944 to Jerry and Harriet Tolk. Ellen grew up in Larchmont, New York and attended New Rochelle High School. Ellen graduated from Boston University in 1966, and later received an MA from Columbia University and an MBA from Iona College.
Ellen married in 1968 and lived in Port Chester, NY, and had two sons, David and Jonathan. The family moved to Rye Brook, NY in 1980. She divorced in 1986 and continued to live in Rye Brook with her two sons. In 2001, Ellen married Harvey Skolnick and the two moved together to White Plains, NY.
Ellen's first career was as an ESL and Spanish teacher. She later became a CPA. Ellen spent 31 years working in private and public accounting for Young Broadcasting, Rosen Seymour Shapps Martin & Company and Rockwood Real Estate Advisors.
Ellen was an active member of the New York State Society of CPA's. After marrying Harvey, Ellen learned to play and love golf. Ellen also enjoyed photography, traveling, cooking and professional and personal networking. However, Ellen's greatest passion was her family.
Ellen is survived by her husband Harvey Skolnick, her sons David of Wilton, CT and Jonathan of Windermere, FL, her step-children Amy McDaniel of Dallast, TX and Andrew Skolnick of Bedford Hills, NY, her 10 grandchildren Harrison, Tabitha, Nate, Jasper, Charlotte, Jaylyn, Allison, Gavin, Avery and Gillian, and her brother Peter Tolk of Dallas, TX.
Funeral service will be held at 9:30 am, Monday, June 25 at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 21 West Broad Street, Mount Vernon, NY.
