Younger - Helen Batkin passed away February 20, 2018 after a long and valiant fight with FSH Muscular Dystrophy. Born in Brooklyn, NY, February 14, 1949, to Ruth and Sandy Batkin, graduated New Rochelle High School, Washington University, St. Louis, and earned a master's degree in library science from Columbia University. Survived by her loving husband, Marc, her son, David, her daughter-in-law, Debbie, grandchildren, Eric and Emma, and her father, Sandy Batkin. A true lover of children's and illustrated books, she founded and built Aleph-Bet Books into the leader of its field. Helen was loved and treasured by her family and close friends. She will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23 at 10am at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 21 West Broad Street, Mount Vernon, NY 10552. Burial will follow at Mount Eden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Helen's name to the FSH Society, www.fshsociety.org.
