Jack D. Pollowitz, beloved husband of Doris, passed peacefully in Valhalla, NY on 01/06/2025 age 96.
He was born on 1/10/1928 in Brooklyn, NY to Frances and Joseph Pollowitz. He attended college at Marietta College in Ohio and served in Korea as a Corporal in the US Army.
Following his military service, he returned to New York and worked as a representative/sales manager for variety of women’s accessory companies.
Jack was devoted to his wife Doris, who was the love of his life.
He is survived by his sons and their wives, Jim (Debbie), Robert (Lisa) and Michael (Sharon); his grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny (Evan), Jon (Robyn), Andrew (Ashley), Ryan (Candice) and Michelle; and his great grandchildren, Bodhi, Kyle, Macie, and Julian.
Family was the most important focus of his life, and we were fortunate to celebrate many milestones including his 90th and 95th birthdays, and most recently, Thanksgiving.
Jack loved traveling, eating good food, socializing with friends, solving crossword puzzles, playing tennis (when he was younger), and bridge. He was active in the affairs of his senior living community at the Knolls in Valhalla, NY, including reading plays and arranging that surplus juice boxes go to needy individuals. Jack was active in his local American Legion post in Scarsdale, NY and the “Old Guard” in White Plains, NY.
His funeral will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel; 100 Saw Mill River Road; Hawthorne, NY at 11:30 AM on Friday January 10, 2025. Burial will follow at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla, NY. Mourners can gather at the Knolls, following the burial on Friday from 1:30-3. Shiva will be held on Saturday January 11, 2025 (6-8 PM) at the home of Dr. James and Deborah Pollowitz (8 Cross Road, Ardsley, NY) and on Sunday at the Knolls (2-4 PM)
