Ruth Tyler passed away peacefully at her home at the Knolls in Valhalla on March 13, after a short illness. She was 88, a fitting age for a classical pianist. Prior to moving to Westchester, Ruth was a longtime leader of Jewish communities on Long Island and Florida, a devoted wife and mother and grandmother, and a global adventurer. Ruth is survived by a large and loving family: her sons and daughters-in-law Michael Tyler & Amy Schustack of San Francisco; Mark Tyler & Nadeen Tyler of Hartsdale, NY; Eliot Tyler and Sabina Tyler of Blauvelt, NY; her nieces Eleanor (Tim) Poore of Fort Myers, Fla., and Melissa Taub of Forest Hills, NY; and her five grandchildren, Jared, Jessica, Jaden, Esther, and Benjamin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, at 11:30am at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Hawthorne, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the UJA Federation of NY.
