Bernardo Abellar

Bernardo Tiongson Abellar, 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, in Hemet, California. He was born on Thursday, March 12, 1936 in Pura, Tarlac in the Philippines to his parents, Antonino Melevo Abellar and Carmen Maclang Tiongson. While in college in the Philippines, Bernardo met the love of his life, Remedios. They spent 62 wonderful years together. Bernardo became a politician in the Philippines and has been a public figure there for many years. He was a socialite and a very generous member in his community. He was an amazing politician, husband, and father. He will be very missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonino and Carmen Abellar, his son, Bernardo Abellar Jr., and his grandson, Mark Alejandro. Bernardo is survived by his wife, Remy Abellar, his children, Mary Ann Abellar, Marita (Ranilo) Gison, Marissa Gloria Gutierrez, Dario Alonzo Abellar, Mary Rose Alejandro, Antonino (Aileen) Abellar, Marlene Judith (Cesar) Monzon, and Rogelio (Tess) Abellar, his sister, Lourdes Mendoza, 26 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of other friends and family members. Services are being held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at McWane Family Funeral Home.
