Beverly Ann Crawford was born on August 6, 1938 in Millwood, Washington, to the late Floyd Jackson and Alice Fiander. She was the youngest of three girls born to that union. Her parents divorced and after her mother re-married her family grew with the addition of a younger brother and sister. Her home life was not easy, so at the age of 16 she left home with only a 10th grade education. She was highly motivated to never return home so with drive, determination and motivation she made her way. Along her life's journey she was blessed with four beautiful daughters. Although she had been previously married and a stay at home mom, much of her time was spent as a hardworking single mother. In 1971, Beverly became the first single women to qualify for an FHA loan in the state of Washington which allowed her to go from being a renter to the proud owner of a stunning two-story home. She earned an honest living doing janitorial work. At each job she became well known for her positive attitude and strong work ethic. She retired from the University of California Riverside with 23 years in the Maintenance Department. While there, she was recognized as employee of the month in October 1987 and in 1993. She was also honored at a ceremony in 1991 where 40 graduates from the UCR Business School of Management named her the most influential person in their life at the campus. The graduates said she was selected because of her constant encouragement, support and counseling and they truly valued her as a friend.
Beverly met and married the love of her life, James Hulen Crawford, on August 3, 1985. With their union, she gained two additional daughters and three sons. They had over 29 years together. They shared a love for spending time with family, friends and their dog Buddy. They purchased an RV and used it to explore the United States and camp in and around California.
Beverly dedicated her life to the Lord and joined Friendship Baptist Church with her husband James on March 11, 2001. She was baptized on May 13, 2001. As her love for the Lord grew, she joined Castle Rock Christian Fellowship Baptist Church on January 1, 2003, with her husband James. While there, they attended and served faithfully. She was one of the beloved mothers of the church who was known for her smile, laugh, strong support of her husband and ability to encourage others.
Beverly was a no nonsense, beautiful women of strength who overcame many adversities. She liked things clean and in order. She took pride in her appearance and ensured she was up, dressed and ready for whatever the day had to offer. She loved her family and never hesitated to share the pride she felt over the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren with anyone who would listen.
On November 15, 2018, Beverly was called to her eternal home in Heaven where she is reunited with her precious husband James.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Sheila Chapman, Wendy Hemmings, Dawn Watson (Harvey) and Tracey Leftwich (Chip); step-children James Crawford (Connie), Troy Crawford (Gwendolyn), Alfred Crawford, Felicia Crawford; sister Barbara Beggs; step-sister Jean Oster and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Hulen Crawford; her parents Floyd Jackson and Alice Viola Fiander; siblings Dorthea Hunt, Peggy Jackson, Richard Jackson, and John Hunt; grandson Nathanel Allen; Nephew Shawn Hunt and step-daughter Bernice Hicks.
