

Cecilia Lorenza Gomez Garcia, 72 of San Jacinto, California passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at her home of 45 years on the Soboba Indian Reservation. Cecilia was born on Tuesday, August 9, 1949, to the late Andres and Gregoria Gomez, in Calexico, California. Her family moved to Hemet when she was 5 years old to work in the apricot orchards for the Hemet Packing Co. She was married to the love of her life, Wayne Garcia for 44 years. Cecilia worked for Southern California Edison in customer service for 36 years. She loved to be actively involved in community programs for the valley, the reservation and communities, and organizations around the United States. Cecilia loved camping and fishing with her family and traveling with her husband Wayne. After she retired, they would travel all over the United States and Canada visiting life-long friends and family on various reservations and reserves that they met as vendors on the Pow Wow trail and through the annual Kateri Tekakwitha Conference that they attended for many years. They would also take an annual trip to Idaho to visit their daughter Francine. Cecilia loved to garden and she was extremely proud of all the lavender bushes that she planted all around her house. Every year she would cut, dry and send packages filled with her lavender to her friends around the world. She has multiple gardens that she has planted and which continue to grow around her house. She would often sit in her strawberry patch with her grandchildren picking and eat strawberries. Cecilia loved to watch and feed her hummingbirds and had a deep love for all her animals. Her pack of dogs would follow her and ride on her scooter while she drove around feeding her birds and horse and watering her plants. Cecilia lived to play with and spoil all her grandchildren! She would race on her scooters with all of them, enjoyed baking, cooking, and having tea parties. She was especially fond of having water balloon fights with her granddaughter, Clementine. Cecilia was very handy with crafts and sewing. Her family considered her the family social butterfly. She will be missed by all that loved her and cared for her.
Cecilia is survived by her husband Wayne, and their children Alfonso “Nic” Necochea, his daughter Gabriela Ugarte and two grandchildren, Chanel and Izzack. Daughter Francine Necochea Lage and her husband Eric. Daughter Heather Pink and her children, Victoria Castro, Michelle Soberano, Tea Soberano, Brian Womack, Patrick Womack, Gregory Womack and Darrel Ann Womack. Son, Wayne Garcia Jr., his children Wayne Garcia III, Vivianna and Yvonne Garcia. Daughter, Carrie Garcia and her fiancé William Swan and their children Clementine, Clover and Cygnus.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Hemet, 1501 West Florida Avenue, Hemet, California. The Rosary will be at 7:00 pm.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 23600 Soboba Road, Soboba Indian Reservation, Ca 92583. Interment will follow at Soboba Cemetery, Soboba Indian Reservation,
