Douglas Stanley was born on July 24, 1933 to Doug and Bernice Stanley. Douglas was a shy and respectful man who had many friends. His quiet, loyal personality made him a great husband and friend to many. In high school, his passion was baseball. As a young man, he loved spending time in the ocean along the Southern Coast of California. He belonged to a dive club and went diving frequently using tanks, free diving, as well as spear fishing. He also enjoyed bowling and played in a league with his close friend, Delmer. During middle age, his passion was breeding and racing quarter horses and thoroughbreds. He never lost his love of the ocean and later in life enjoyed ocean fishing and spending vacations at the beach with his wife. He is survived by his wife, of 30 years, Connie; cousins, Sharon Ritchey, (who was like a sister to him) and Sharla Jenson; second cousins Michael and Shawn Ritchey,Tamara Powers and Greg and Tim Atnip; stepson Brett Ashworth; step grand children, Jon and David Ashworth and Caitlin England. Sister-in-law, Ann Shepard, Neices, Jacki Shepard, Judi Hamann, Janis Sanches, nephew, Jon Shepard, and friend of more than 40 years Bob Middleton.
