Dovie succumbed to Interstitial Lung Disease after her diagnosis over 10 years ago.
She was surrounded by her children when she passed peacefully.
Dovie is survived by her 5 children, Ray (Monty), Greg, Sherry, Mark, Allen as well as 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dovie was born in Berryville Arkansas on September 17, 1938 to parents Lora Cooper and Roscoe Keeland. Her family moved to Chino, CA in 1945.
Married 61 years to Raymond Stewart Edwards, (deceased in 2018). Dovie and Raymond met through a shipmate of his in the U.S. Navy. They Married on October 1, 1956.
As a born again Christian, Dovie's heart was always filled with love, which she gave unconditionally and expected nothing in return.
Cooking for her family and friends always seemed to give her the greatest of satisfaction.
She was an excellent southern style cook, and greatly enjoyed watching her favorite southern style cooking shows.
Dovie always worked hard to help support her family, with many types of jobs during her lifetime. She developed many lifelong friendships while working as a hospital housekeeper and later in retail at home improvement centers in Riverside, CA.
Managing and operating a Yum Yum Donuts in Riverside was probably her most rewarding career since it involved cooking, baking, frying and feeding everyone. She also taught her children, Greg, Sherry and Mark how to make the donuts when they worked at her shop.
After retiring and moving to Cherry Valley, CA., Dovie and Ray were active in the Cherry Valley Mobile Home Park. Dovie organized and decorated the recreation room for the monthly potlucks and various special holiday events too. She loved crafts and her hobbies were crocheting, knitting and quilting with others. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Dovie took great joy in doing things for others, spending time with all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was the most loving mother imaginable!
The families favorite local place was Los Rios Rancho in Oak Glen, CA, where they had annual picnics during apple harvesting season. All the friends are invited to join Dovie's family for a picnic there on Saturday Feb 7th 2026 at noon. BYO picnic lunch.
Interment will be private at a later date at the Riverside National Cemetery.
