Edwin Eugene Tucker was born in Big Springs, Texas on August 23, 1937. Ed and his family lived in Abilene, Texas until he proudly enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corp. in 1954. While in the Marines he was stationed at Twenty-nine Palms and CampPendleton, from September 27, 1954 until September 26, 1958, and received the rank of Corporal.
Soon after completing Boot Camp, he was introduced to Dianne Leckie, by her brother, John and Ed's two sisters Joyce & Norma. They fell in love immediately and were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 30, 1957. Ed and Dianne started out living in Inglewood, bought their first home in Torrance and later moved to Fountain Valley so Dianne was close to her job in Fountain ValleySchool District.
Ed began his working career as an insulator and asbestos worker at the shipyards in Long Beach. He went to HarborCollege in L.A. to get his insulation contractor's license. After obtaining his license he opened his own insulation company, Four Seasons Insulation Co. He insulated both residential and commercial buildings all over Southern California, with offices in Westminster and Hemet. He closed Four Seasons Insulation in 1988 when he began to have lung problems related to working in the asbestos/insulation field.
Upon retiring from the insulation work he began Tucker & Associates, Inc. Telemarketing. He became an Amway distributor, purchased pay telephones and placed them in 23 locations (gas stations, markets, and other business locations.) He serviced these locations until 1999.
In 1999 Ed and Dianne retired and moved to CanyonLake to enjoy golf and fishing. Golf was always his passion and fishing just minutes from home was a dream come true. As his health began to fail, he had to give up the game of golf, with great regret, but was able to fish for a few more years. He suffered with many health problems, but he always enjoyed life as much as his body would allow. He never complained so no one knew how sick he was except his wife. He loved watching the nephews play baseball and football over the years and in recent years watching the great-nephews and nieces in their sporting activities. He got great joy out of camping, fishing, playing poker with his Canyon Lake buddies twice a week, being a spectator for all sports, going to Las Vegas and Laughlin to play Black Jack and play the penny or nickel slot machines, play Mexican Train with Dianne and friends, bowling, and just hanging out with family and friends.
Two of Ed's sisters preceded his death; Joyce Donaldson and Marilyn DeYoung. He is survived by his loving and devoted family, wife, Dianne; 2 brothers, James Tucker of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Audie Tucker of Acton, California; 2 sisters, Norma Gangewer of Las Vegas, Nevada and Doris Morris of Abilene, Texas; 19 nieces and nephews, and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
Ed passed away on November 22, 2010 in his CanyonLake home surrounded by family members.
A celebration of life will be held at the Canyon Lake Country Club on Saturday, December 18th at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be made to Ramona VNA Hospice in Sun City, California or the American Lung Association
