Elizabeth Josephine (Betty Jo) Ludwick Bumgarner, age 91, born September 11, 1923 in Avon Park, Florida. She died April 23, 2015 in Murrieta, California. She graduated from Leesburg High School in 1941.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Garner of Palm Desert, California.
She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Bumgarner and husband, Don of Homeland, California and cousin, Martha Judith Rainey of Ocala, Florida.
Elizabeth was the granddaughter of James Lee Hux, Leesburg Chief of Police, who was killed in the line of duty in 1924. She served in the US Navy as a hospital corpsman in WWII, receiving an honorable discharge as HA1c. She was also a Daughter of the Confederacy. Married to Jack Garner, golf professional and brother of actor James Garner. She moved to Southern California in 1964 and has lived in Homeland since 1999. She retired from Max Factor and Co. in 1985.
