It still doesn't feel real. The fact that you're not coming through the door right now and I'm not gonna see you anymore. Just doesn't seem real or right. It feel like you left too soon. I wasn't expecting this to happen. I wish I could make you laugh again because it was so easy to do! Always happy and laughing. I can't help but to think what if I did know what was in store. How fast I would come see you if only I knew. And how I wish I had. How I would thank you for so much that you did for me. How much I enjoyed our time when I lived with you. You did things for me that I now see more now as a mom. You always treated me like your daughter and nothing less. I will forever cherish our time together. Although I will never understand why you left so soon. I know for sure we will be ok because you laid such a strong foundation for the family. My Tia Emma,

You would always put a smile on my face, and your hugs they were the best. I still can't believe you're gone, but I know you're in a better place with the Lord. My heart and prayers go out to your kids, grandkids, nana, husband, and all of the brothers and sister. But I know now that they are all being cared for in your hands. I will always cherish the memories I had with you. I still remember spending my summer vacations with you. Going on bike rides, going to parks... You would always make sure I had a good time. I miss those days, I spent with you. Every summer I would look forward to visiting you and the family. I will always love you and keep you in my heart. Thank you for showing me what bravery and strength really is. You were and will continue to be a great role model to me. Until next time my angel!

Beautiful Emma
I still cannot believe you are gone and have so many great memories of you. The one that I always will remember and will tell to this day is you calling me "Aunt Jemima" cuz I get so dark in the summer. You are such an amazing women in so many ways... You have so many people that love you and you have marked so much of your love and memories that will never be forgotten. You left so soon but no longer in pain and I know you would want everyone to be happy and live healthy lives and we will. Your brother Benny has given up something for you and for himself and I truly am proud of him and have so much love for you and your family. I do know things happen for a reason and not always understand why but I do know you are no longer in pain and at peace! You are my beautiful Emma and I will always be your Aunt Jemima. My farewell! At this point in my life I have been forcefully made to come to terms as much as I possibly can with the inevitable fact my loved ones one day will part from existence. It's not something I stomach easily as a piece of myself is embedded in each and every one of you and a piece of each of you is embedded in me. As far back as I can remember the existence of the "LUCKY 7" has always been there and I say "lucky 7" because that's exactly what every one of us 2nd generation & now some 3rd generation family members were subject to. The seven of you, although interaction with you all is not equal I feel the love I have for you all is in fact equal.

So with that said this letter is not to bid you farewell but to tell you in my own fashion I will see you later the moments we shared I will forever hold dearest to my heart & the memories of you will forever remain vivid in my mind. Putting these words together without crying was definitely not the easiest to do.

But thinking of this one memory of you when I was around 5 or 6 ( & yes my memory is that good) has really put a huge smile on my face & has really warmed my heart in my own special (rebellious) way & sharing this I hope brings a little bit of light( in a dark time ) and warmth( to a cold time)  to those who read it.

Some of you know that the house on steamer once was shared among family members and among that household lived. Tio (Benny), Tia (Emma), Nana Ralph, Nana Elena, & Alex anyhow the door leading to the garage from the kitchen back then used to swing closed with little to no effort and on this one particular time I was reaching for the door jamb. Either walking out to the garage or walking into the kitchen, at the exact same time. Tia Emma was walking through she out of habit closed the door on my right middle finger and sheered the finger nail completely off. Even to this day my finger nail grows outward a little crooked and is shaped a little different because of this. So knowing that when future circumstances call for me flipping the bird. My unique oblong finger nail that I was blessed with from my Tia Emma brings me a unique joy & happiness because it will forever remind me of you.  To my cousins Alex & Nikki I love you both very much and would do anything and everything for you as I offer the same to any of my family members, & to my entire family who is in mourning know that although this is an uncomfortable time for us. This is also is a perfect time for us to remember the beautiful person we were all blessed with for all those years. I love you all so much FAMILY FIRST!!

After so many days, I still do not understand what happened. I am lost for words. I just cannot accept the fact that my sister Emma is gone. I keep telling everyone that we must remain strong. I guess that pertains to me too. I will give up the need to know why things happen as they do. One thing for sure, I truly miss my sister. Even though we lived far apart, the fact that I knew she was fine, was gratifying. Feeling that sense of tranquility was enough for me. I wish I could have said good-bye, but I didn’t. I now pray that her soul rests in peace and that Nick, her son Alex and daughter Nikki continue their lives as strong as ever. God bless them. To my Mom Elena, my sister Cruz and bothers Fernando, Angel, Gilbert and Benny and the rest of our huge family, I pray for you too. We must support each other, as we have always done. We all need to cherish those beautiful memories of her. I know I will. Life must go on because we have to live for Emma.

My sincere condolences and sympathy to Emma's entire family. She was a wonderful and beautiful lady and a friend who will be missed. May she fly with the angels and look down on us as we pray for her.

Tia Emma, we miss you so much. I miss you so much,your smile, your laugh, and your amazing personality. I miss messing with you and all of the memories we shared. Words cannot describe my love for you and all my family. You are a strong women and one to look up to,  a great role model for the younger generation. Broken Chain
We little knew that night, that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us precious memories, your love is still our guide. Though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again. Love you forever sister.

Broken Heart
Emma was the best friend anyone could have. She was my partner in crime. if i got in trouble she got in trouble. I could tell her anything , as well as her telling  me  different thing. Secreats we will keep forever.

My heart is broken because I miss my friend, being able to talk to her, confide in her, discuss our family, get advice. she is with the angles, and that gives me comfort. God bess Emma and her family, she will always be watching out for you, that is what  she did.   See you in my prays my Friend.

Restored our faith
Emma was diagnosed with Leukemia beginning of February and not a day there after did she ever complain about a procedure, Doctor appointment or treatment plan that was set forth which she knew was part of her Journey the set forth for her to travel. As we prayed for healing and peace for her and her loved ones, we know our prayers were answered because she is home with the lord unharmed and healed from all sickness. Still makes it so difficult for me to let her go just yet and I know it's selfish but I will continue to pray for complete peace in my heart. I love and miss you so so soooo much Emma! I'm so blessed with the time we have shared and the laughs. Your grandbabies will miss you but there hearts will forever be filled with the loved you've showed them and the memories you've made with them. I promise you to do my very best and take care of your son and your daughter and grandbabies. Rest now and know you are safe with the lord. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
