Erick "Rick" Tristan Higgins

Erick “Rick” Tristan Higgins, loving husband, brother, son, uncle, and cherished friend. He was born on January 19th, 1948, in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio and passed away on January 3rd, 2025, in Hemet, California.

He served and protected our country for 3 years when he joined the United States Army. He was assigned to the 11th Calvary and was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He continued his life of public service when he joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He served and protected the residents of Riverside County for 27 years. He was a Departmental Instructor and taught many courses at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center. He was last assigned to Sheriff’s Court Services – Central prior to his retirement. On January 4th, 2002, he received an Honorable Retirement at the rank of Sheriff’s Lieutenant.

“Rick” loved to go sailing and was also an avid golfer. He loved golfing so much, he always looked for new golf courses to improve his skills. He was a member of the Seven Hills Golf Course in Hemet, California.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Higgins, a step brother Bill (Lynn) Dehney, sister in law Kay Robinson, brother in law Rocky Heyen and many nieces and nephews and countless friends at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert Higgins and Kathryn Hughes-Higgins, his brothers, Richard Higgins and Robin Higgins.
