

Eugene Lyle Kosek, 88, of Hemet, California passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Hemet Valley Medical Center. He was born Tuesday, May 14, 1929, and was the son of the late Edward and Mary Kosek. During his early years and his retirement years he loved to bowl and entered many tournaments. He did not hit a 300 game but has a 298 ring to show how close he got. Gene loved to tell stories and was good at it. He had an excellent memory and could remember the smallest detail that really enhanced the story and had a commanding voice that kept your attention. Gene had a lot of good friends and neighbors. He would walk into a room full of strangers and leave with friends. Gene liked to keep his mind busy and enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and playing Pinochle and Poker. He liked to surf Facebook and communicate with his grand kids. Music was his passion. After graduating from Mount Carmel High School Gene studied voice under the direction of Harold Hurlbut and was honored to have been a participant of Roger Wagner's Chorale. He was a soloist and a lector at Beatitudes of our Lord Catholic Church in La Mirada. Gene was very proud to be a friend of Bill W. and was a frequent speaker at meetings, sharing his story to inspire others one day at a time. His family describes him as being very social, family oriented, friendly and very caring. He will be missed by those that knew him and loved him.
Surviving are sons; John Kosek ( Susie ), Robert Kosek, Paul Kosek ( Stephanie ); Mark Kosek ( Cheryl ) and Gregory Kosek ( Linh ), daughter, Christine Kosek, brother, Darol Kosek; sisters, Joan La Rosh ( John ) and Alice Ellis., Karen Olson, 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
