

Chief Master Sergeant USAF (Retired)
Age 83, passed away peacefully on May 18th with his family by his side. He was born in Sampson County, North Carolina and was a resident of Moreno Valley since 1972. He proudly served his country for 30 years and was a Korean war and Vietnam war veteran. He was active as a baseball and basketball youth coach for much of his adult life. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Marie "Cookie" Jernigan, his son James M. Jernigan (Joline), Grandchildren: Jason M. Jernigan, Jennifer M. Jernigan, Tyler M. Jernigan, S. Breanne Sobczyk and Matthew A. Sobczyk (Rachelle), Great Grandchildren: Kayla J. Sobczyk and Jackson R. Sobczyk, Sisters: Elizabeth "Lib" Register and Virginia D. Matthews (Warren), Brothers: James "Shorty" Jernigan (Shirley), Wallace L. Jernigan (Byrd) and Sherrill W. Jernigan (Alice), 47 nieces and nephews, countless friends.......and his loving dogs.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday May 29th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m and the memorial service will be Thursday, May 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Miller Jones Mortuary, 26618 Sunnymead Blvd., Moreno Valley, CA. followed by a burial at Riverside National Cemetery.
