Frankie Edward Ortega Jr. tragically passed away at just 27 years old on April 5, 2026, on the Soboba Indian Reservation. While his life was taken from us far sooner than we were prepared for, his spirit now soars where the Creator’s love is boundless.
Frankie had a deep, abiding love for his family. He shared an extraordinary bond with his grandfather, Jerry who taught him the value of hard work, the importance of keeping his word, and how to carry himself with quiet pride.
Frankie found humor in almost everything, especially the lessons he learned growing up. He often joked with his family saying, “I think I’m the best gardener around—I always had to do yard work whenever I was in trouble with Grandpa!” Driven by a desire to honor that legacy, Frankie had recently enrolled in trade school for HVAC. He wanted more for himself and his future, frequently sharing his motivation: "I am going to make Grandpa proud of me."
Frankie will be remembered for his kind heart, vibrant personality, and his unforgettable stories. He was a true storyteller who found joy in the “little things.” Frankie had a gift for recounting moments with such vivid, exhaustive details that his family would often tease him, saying, “Frankie, just tell us what happened—forget the details!” He would simply laugh and keep right on sharing.
While his stories were legendary, his greatest joy was found in his role as a father. Frankie’s daughters, Suwánawet and Mavii Ortega, were the center of his universe. His face would radiate light and a signature smile the moment he spoke their names.
Frankie’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit remains a part of the hearts of those who knew him. We carry his memory forward, trusting in the Creator’s timing and the promise that we will see him again.
He is survived by Natasha Hurtado, Daughters Suwanawet and Mavii Ortega, His father Frankie (Talitha) Ortega, mother Melissa Ramos. Brothers Anthony Ortega, Jessie Ortega, Daniel Ortega, Manuel Ortega, Alex Gomez, and Anthony Gomez; sisters Selnekis wikill Ortega, Cyanna Ortega, and Rebecca Gomez. His Grandmother Leticia Alvidrez and Debbie Ortega, Grandfather Richard Ramos, Aunt Lisa (Sam) Hernandez, Lydia (Ronnie) Flores, Rita Ortega, Vanessa Ramos, Lyndsey Smith, and many other aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who were touched by his loyalty.

Gone Too Soon, You Will Never Be Forgotten Frankie
Creator, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving a life taken too soon and in a way we struggle to understand. We ask that You wrap Frankie in Your eternal light, welcoming him with love, peace, and rest beyond all pain.Bring comfort to those he leaves behind—his children, his family, and all who loved him. In moments of anger, sorrow, and confusion, guide us toward healing. Help us carry his memory not in the shadow of how he was taken, but in the light of how he lived, how he loved, and how he made us feel.
Protect his spirit, Creator, and watch over his daughters as they grow. Let them feel their father’s love in every step they take. Give this family strength to face the days ahead, courage to seek peace, and unity to lean on one another.
Though this loss came through violence, we ask that peace rise in its place. Let love be louder than pain, and let Frankie’s spirit continue to live within us.
I will miss you dearly, Love Auntie Lisa
